For their home opener, the Attica Varsity Softball team kicked off their season with a big win over Oakfield-Alabama and a score of 17-2! After Oakfield scored a run in the first inning, the Blue Devils' bats heated up, coming back to score 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Devil's leadoff hitter, Morgan Bunk, fired up the team's rally with a triple! Laurel Cius and Jaclyn Torrey kept the momentum rolling as Cius scored Bunk and Torrey hit a double to score Cius. Elise Dressel and Hailey Mills each had a double and an RBI for the first inning as well. Throughout the game, the Devils continued to play strong defense, holding Oakfield to scoring only one more run in the third inning. Maddie Robinson had 3 strikeouts and continued to be a strong presence on the mound for the Devils. The team broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring 7 runs. Maddie Robinson had a clutch hit in the 4th inning with a double and 2 RBI's. Dressel and Mills also contributed to the exciting inning, Dressel with a single and Mills with an RBI. To finish the game, Laurel Cius had a single with 2 RBI's and Jaclyn Torrey had another double with an RBI. Morgan Bunk and Emma Spink both had singles in the 5th as well. The Blue Devils started their season on a high note with this solid victory! Great job to the team! For Oakfield-Alabama, Sayde Bush hit a double, scoring Piper Hyde in the first inning. Other contributors on offense were Raine Denny and Jessica Sosnowski, both with singles for the Hornets.
